Dental restorations that call for installing a dental crown typically calls for bonding the dental work into place with a very strong dental adhesive. This is meant to hold the dental crown onto the anchoring abutment with the same strength you enjoyed in the original tooth.

If a blow to the face or complications from poor oral hygiene causes one of your dental crowns to feel loose, you should not delay in calling 801.756.5136 to have Dr. Brandon Green examine it. The longer you wait to seek professional care the more likely you are to experience significant complications with the dental crown’s internal abutment.

While you await your appointment you need to resist the temptation to wiggle, or even try to clean the loose crown. Every little bit of movement has the potential to damage to the abutment.

If a blow to the face has left blood or other unwanted debris in your mouth you can gently rinse it away with lukewarm salt water. Dr. Brandon Green will handle any other necessary cleaning measures during the appointment.

If the anchoring abutment inside the crown is unaffected that Dr. Brandon Green might be able to reseat the dental crown. If the abutment has been damaged, Dr. Brandon Green might need to perform a root canal to restore the abutment’s structural integrity. Once this is done he can provide a same-day dental crown using CEREC® technology.

If you are in the American Fork, Utah, area and you have a loose or distressed crown, please call 801.756.5136 to have it examined and treated at Masterpiece Dental.
